San Pablo, California

  • Our Purpose

This blog is for us, the people of San Pablo and guests, to share information and concerns about our city, our government, our schools, our neighborhoods, our businesses, our religious centers, and any and all issues we deem important. It is also for us to ‘talk back’ to each other and government about the issues and questions that concern us. We commit to be respectful of each other. There is much we can accomplish working together.

The West Contra Costa Healthcare District is again going to the property owners and asking for additional money to save Doctors Medical Center in San Pablo. In 2004, voters approved a $52 parcel tax to save the hospital.  Then in 2011, voters approved an additional $47 to help save the hospital.  Now, the Healthcare District is asking to increase our parcel tax to between $200 – $300 per year.  The parcel tax will remain in place regardless if the hospital remains open or goes under.   NO ONE WANTS TO SEE THE HOSPITAL CLOSE ! But, enough is enough.  IT’S UNFAIR TO CONSTANTLY STICK IT TO THE PROPERTY OWNERS !  Doctors Hospital is losing $20 million a year.  It’s obvious to any who has a brain that the hospital is poorly managed and needs to downsize.  And to top it off, the hospital still needs to be retrofitted.  Who’s going to pay for that?  VOTE NO!  ON THE MAIL IN BALLOT TO INCREASE OUR PARCEL TAX.

  1. We will definitely be fighting this new parcel tax. Ironically, Supervisor Gioia who is promoting this tax to “save Doctor’s Hospital” is now running for re-election for the 3rd (4th?) time and just sent out an email to help him fight poverty in the SF Bay Area.
How better to fight poverty than to LOWER our tax burden.
