SAN PABLO, Calif.—A plan to shore up a hillside in San Pablo that collapsed during heavy rains in March, damaging seven homes, is on hold. The Contra Costa Times reports that homeowners have objected to the city’s terms for conducting the repairs.

San Pablo officials want to be released from liability for any damage their stabilization work causes. They also want to be indemnified for any legal action from third parties.

City Manager Matt Rodriguez said a modified agreement submitted by six of the seven homeowners would place the city at severe financial and legal risk.

Blanka Walker, whose Wyman Street home was red-tagged after the slide, said the revised proposal did not contain major changes.

The proposed fix would be an interim measure and cost $100,000 to $150,000.
