  • Our Purpose

This blog is for us, the people of San Pablo and guests, to share information and concerns about our city, our government, our schools, our neighborhoods, our businesses, our religious centers, and any and all issues we deem important. It is also for us to ‘talk back’ to each other and government about the issues and questions that concern us. We commit to be respectful of each other. There is much we can accomplish working together.

It seems like we’re finally going to get that Community Center we’ve been waiting for:

At Monday night’s City Council meeting (Apr. 4 – 6pm), the architectural group, Noll & Tam (from Berkeley)  did a presentation showing slides of projects they have worked on and drawing ideas of what our Community Center could look like.  They also  had some really great ideas on what we could have at our Community Center.  They designed the Community Center in Antioch  and that came out really great.  It turns out that the Antioch Community Center is a big success with the residents of Antioch and  it also  generates money for the city by way of  rental fees.  The success of the Antioch Center is based on the fact that their  community had a lot of in-put as to the design of their center and what types of rooms, outdoor spaces, landscape ideas,  etc. their center should have.

The architects, Noll & Tam would like to repeat the success they had in Antioch here with our Community Center.  They want to hear from the residents of San Pablo, from the various ethnic groups, to see what they would like for  their community center. They asked that the City get together a group of residents who have ideas and would be willing to meet monthly with them to go over ideas for San Pablo’s Community Center.

Since no one mentioned how a resident can become a member of the group working on the San Pablo Community Center project,  I think it would be best to contact the City Manager or a member of the San Pablo City Council and let them know that you would like to be part of the group of residents working on the San Pablo Community Center located at Helms School.

Good idea. I’m game. Need to get the word out…through schools?

I am hoping to be part of this steering committee.

It would be great if all San Pablo residents have an input on this. I know that if I am part of the committee the Lake school community will be represented, my intent is to ask parents for their opinion and feed back.
