Why just “interested in being a member”? Why not invite everybody who is interested in San Pablo issues? I got permission from Matt for the council chamber or conference room specifically so that there would be enough room to be all-inclusive.
The original ‘group’ that took up the issue of eminent domain, laid out a plan and did the basic work to engage and inform others was:Margaret, Mark, Olivia,Pat and me (Shelby). There was no group ‘leader’. We simply discussed things, made decisions, and divided up the work. Can this be done in a very large group? Likely not. We have only two hours. Possibly there should be a smaller sub-group that has the time and commitment to dig into the issues and report back. But that shouldn’t be decided by any one or two or three people. Why? It doesn’t work. It’s undemocratic. It’s elitism…and we’ve had enough of that from the city council.
