The following is a report of a City Council meeting on April 8.

Billed as a meeting for ‘Faith Based and Community Based Organizations:

Last evening I attended the meeting for ‘Faith Based and Community Based Organizations’.  The meeting was chaired by Council Person Genoveva Calloway who asked each person to explain what their group was doing.  When it came my turn I explained I was representing a new community based organization, San Pablo Against Eminent Domain, that we were against the forced sale of property in San Pablo, and had over 60 people show up at our second meeting.  And then I was stopped.  Ms. Calloway said this was not the place for that information, that I was only showing one side and I was not allowed to speak further.
I now remind Ms. Calloway that this was a meeting open to the public, she is on public space (the Senior Center), paid for by the tax payers, it was a meeting for all community organizations, not the just the ones she favors, that she is a civil servant and not conducting a private meeting and that it is against the law to silence citizens at public meetings simply because they hold views contrary to hers.  I suggest she consult with the city attorney on this.
