About Monday’s City Hall Meeting

Posted by xaviervir on March 31, 2010

A few words about what I said at that meeting –

At the Monday night  meeting of March 29, I brought up the fact that the Redevelopment Agency is made up of people who do not live in San Pablo and that I thought that these people should not be making recommendations or ‘grand plans’ for our city when they don’t live here.  What do they know?

After I sat down, Brock (out- going City manager) came out to shoot down my comments.  He mentioned that the City Council sits on the Redevelopment board and that they live in San Pablo.  This may be true, but I was referring to the STAFF of the Redevelopment Agency.  The guys in the suits that made presentations at the February city council meeting.  THEY DO NOT LIVE IN SAN PABLO.  It is the STAFF that is making all the ‘Grand’ plans for San Pablo.  I see the city council members on the Redevelopment board as just there to rubber stamp the plans of the STAFF.

I was not allowed to present a rebuttal to Mr. Brock’s comments because rebuttals were not allowed.  I plan to make my rebuttal at the next council meeting.  It seemed that Mr. Brock’s job at that meeting was to shoot down everything that the people had to say.  His job was  to make it look as if thought all the people that spoke against eminent domain didn’t really know all the facts or really didn’t know what they were talking about.  Well I’m here to say that we do know what were talking about.  WE’RE TALKING ABOUT EMINENT DOMAIN AND WE DON’T WANT IT HERE.  Let’s be real.  The fact of the matter is no proposition 99 is going to save anyone’s property.  If the city  really wants your property, they will find a way to get it.
